Fatal Crash in Paso Robles
A one-car crash on Monday afternoon took the life of a 19-year-old girl and injured her two younger siblings. The crash happened on 101 near Paso Robles. Jeanette Montes, the 19-year-old driver, was traveling northbound on the 101 in a Ford Explorer. For an unknown reason, she veered into the right shoulder and then abruptly turned left. The car rolled, and eventually came to a stop. Bystanders rescued her two younger brothers from the car, and pulled Montes out before the vehicle was completely engulfed.
No information has been released on why Montes veered into the right shoulder. Her brothers were reported to have suffered from minor injuries. Officials with the California Highway Patrol stated that the investigation is still ongoing. Although not currently enrolled this semester, Montes was an interior design student at Cuesta College.
